How would you describe yourself in a few words?
I’m a perpetual student, born and raised in Wyoming. I love reading, painting, hiking, music, yoga, and quite a lot of other things.
How long have you been a model?
To be completely honest with you, I’m not a model. I’ve done maybe three shoots with photographers who have contacted me via social media, and that’s it. I guess the answer is that I’m very new to modeling. I’m actually a care-taker for a very lovely elderly woman.
How did you get into modelling?
Modeling wasn’t a path I ever persued (I’m a small town girl, so it didn’t really seem plausible). When Liz Osban reached out to me, I felt honored to be asked to be a part of her world. Her work is really beautiful and ethereal; I wanted to be involved. I had a really awesome, challenging, unique experience, so I have since been open to like experiences.
How was your first shooting? Tell us a bit about that first experience.
My first shoot was with Liz. She wanted to use me for Melencholia in her Elsewhere series. Half the shoot was under water, all of it was in a swimming pool, after hours, in the dark. I was wearing this long white flowy gown with arm peices that cultivated an angel-wing effect, so I was swimming underwater in this heavy garment with all these draping lengths of cloth twisting around my limbs and billowing out in the water. It was surreal. Closest to a mermaid as I’ll ever get.
What does modelling mean to you?
To me, modelling is one of the elements that helps to create the embodiment of a vision, physical art. A model is a wordless communication, evocative of feeling specific to the viewer.
A model you particularly admire?
This is such a cliché answer, but I have so much admiration for Kate Moss. I love how she just is who she is; she doesn’t care what anyone thinks. She has sustained a separation, a mystery of self in a time where familiarity and over-sharing are in vogue.
If you could choose, where would you like to shoot?
I would love to shoot in Iceland. The rugged terrain, the cliff faces, the wild ocean: Iceland is otherworldly!
What is your dressing style in everyday life?
I’m a 90’s baby all the way: my style is grunge.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
Having never been there, I imagine that l would want to live in Bali. The people there seem so kind, the islands/wildlife are unspeakably beautiful, and the food looks amazing!
What is happiness?
Happiness is spending time with loved ones, traveling, learning something new, being in the sunshine, painting, cuddling with my kitten.
Where can we find you on a Friday night?
My Friday nights can vary anywhere from a raving in the mountains to reading a book by myself at home.
What’s your next goal?
My goal is to travel (I’m saving for this). I went on an AMAZING trip across Europe when I was 18, and it was truly life changing. I have never been happier in my life. I was living out of a suitcase, I was engulfed in different cultures, and I learned so much about how the world perceives Americans. It was very humbling. I think that it is very important for young Americans (or young people anywhere, for that matter) to take a step outside of themselves and look at their culture from a global perspective. I want to have more opportunities to learn from others whose views and customs are yet unknown to me. I want to see this beautiful world.
