In a few words, tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Pancho Monti, i’m 29 years old. I live in the amazing city of Buenos Aires. I love photography, humour, summer and travelling.
How long have you been a photographer?
I started taking pictures with disposable cameras when i was 10 years old. During all my primary school field trips i always carried 3 Kodaks cameras!
How did you discover photography?
My father was a journalist and he used to have a lot of photojournalist friends. When i was 11 he died and my mother had to sell a lot of amazing film cameras he used to have. We kept one, a beautiful reflex Pentax A3000. That Pentax was the camera that really made me discover photography in a serious way.
How was your first shooting? What did you shoot?
My first shooting was of my first girlfriend, lots of years ago. After that, i shot lots of live shows for a digital magazine. I shot bands such as Pearl Jam, Black Keys, Kings Of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, Primal Scream, Devendra Banhart, and much more.
How would you describe your style?
I’m a mixture of many influences. But i believe my photoshoots have three characteristics: simplicity, naturalness and sensuality. Less is more.
What does photography mean to you?
A beautiful way of telling stories. In addition to that, it’s my motivation and passion.
What inspires you?
Definitely songs! I love movies, but music is my big inspiration at the moment of creating a story.
What would you like to photograph?
I would like to photograph Donald Trump, naked, just with a pink thong.
A photographer you particularly admire?
I absolutely like lots of fashion photographers. But feeling admiration, I without a doubt choose other types of photographers, such as Josef Koudelka, a real master of photography.
What is happiness?
Happiness is when a friend makes me laugh and when I make people laugh. In those moments, I feel just like a child, when I was always happy.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
I love my city so much. Buenos Aires is so great. But if i had the opportunity to choose, from 30-50 (years old) New York City. From 50-60 Barcelona, from 60-70 Copenhague, 70-80 a field on the outskirts of Japan. 80-90, if i’m still alive, i would live anywhere.
What’s your next goal?
Im working on a book. Its growing slowly and unhurried.
