An interview with the talented Portland based photographer, Don Conrad and this sexy black and white series featuring gorgeous Raesha, enjoy!
In a few words, tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hi! I’m Don Conrad aka Paris Photography currently located in Portland, Oregon. I might be one of the hardest working photographers you’ll ever met. I’m passionate, determined and always trying to improve my craft.
How long have you been a photographer?
All my life really. I have always taken photos… even as a little kid.
How did you discover photography?
My Grandfather and Father were both photographers. I just grew up around it.
How was your first shooting? What did you shoot?
I couldn’t tell you what my first shoot was, but the earliest photo that I still have from when I was a kid is of Devils Postpile National Monument in California while on a family hike. Taken with a disc film camera in the 70s.
How would you describe your style?
Refined and thoughtful. I see too many photographers today rush images out for the sake of saying ‘here is what I just did’. I like to carefully evaluate and finalize what I choose to put out into the world.
What does photography mean to you?
Photography is not only my creative outlet, but it’s my job. It means I have to constantly be on call and stay busy producing new work, but I’m doing what I love so I can’t complain. It’s also how I met so many wonderful people in my life that will always be friends.
What inspires you?
I find the best inspiration comes in the moment from all the unique elements of any given shoot… the energy of the team, the setting, light, wardrobe. It’s the combination of all those elements and how they come together that really defines the end results.
What would you like to photograph?
I live and work in the Pacific Northwest which is a wonderful place to do photography, but I would like to travel more and take photos in other parts of the world.
A photographer you particularly admire?
I’ve always loved Sante D’Orazios work.
What is happiness?
Sharing great wine with friends!
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
I really fell in love with the South of France. So there somewhere… on a beach. :)
What’s your next goal?
Actually to take more time for myself. To do more fishing, painting, reading… quiet relaxing type stuff. :)
