How would you describe yourself in a few words?
I am unconventional, spirited and goofy.
How long have you been a model?
I have always loved posing for pictures. I really became interested in modelling when I was 13 so I started taking extremely amateur pictures with friends. I walked my first runway in 2011 and I have been modelling since then!
How did you get into modelling?
I got into modelling after years of being urged(mostly by my parents) to contact agencies. It started as a hobby with no real sense of direction but now it’s turned into my biggest fascination.
How was your first shooting? Tell us a bit about that first experience.
I don’t specifically remember what my first shoot was, it was most likely with my best friend Sage. Her and I used to goof around with my clothing designs and her first camera. When I first started shooting there was a lot of fear and uncertainty involved. Over the years I have grown to become best friends with my own body and I have a lot more confidence.
What does modelling mean to you?
To me, modelling means a whole bunch of different things. It represents friendship and community but also represents self-love and growth. Through modelling I have met and continue to meet the most amazing individuals and teams while also getting to know my own creative side.
A model you particularly admire?
Stacey McKenzie. Not only does she carry herself with confidence and grace but she took her fame and experience and immediately used it to give back to her community by helping young women break into modelling.
If you could choose, where would you like to shoot?
The beach! I live in the middle of nowhere and it gets cooooold here. I dream of being by the ocean and I love to work with intense sunlight; shadows are one of my favourite things to pose with!
What is your dressing style in everyday life?
This depends! I tend to be a pretty big tomboy on my off days, I like to keep it classy at work and I don’t love anything more than a jumpsuit for days when I’m in between. I design and sew a lot of my own clothing so I can seem like a bit of a chameleon.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
If I could live anywhere it would be in a tree house in the middle of the jungle. Tropical birds make the funniest noises and I love the thought of being far away from the real world.
What is happiness?
Happiness for me is spending quality time with my loved ones or creating something that truly impresses myself. Oh… and food!
Where can we find you on a Friday night?
On a Friday night I am probably sewing, making mood boards or I’m zoned in on a puzzle.
What’s your next goal?
I have so many goals! 1) I really want to learn more about garment pattern making, 2) I want to travel to a new continent and 3) I want to get one of my current projects in an art gallery.
